Inspired by the Sosa family's homeland and tradition, Papo's Cuban Kitchen displays the epitome of authentic cuban food right at your doorstep. Utilizing bright colors, imagery, and iconography based on Cuban culture brings a sense of celebration and hospitality for any guest that enters the restaurant.
Worked closely with the owners from conceptualization to creating the overall brand, from logo design and marketing collateral to menus and overhead signage.

The first part of this project was to create an identity for the owners. Having multiple discovery sessions and getting to understand the culture and history of Cuba played an immense role in creating the overall theme for branding and future assets for the restaurant. Moodboards with multiple reference photos were created to help visualize what can potentially become the starting point for the brand.
Determining the look and feel of the restaurant was just the beginning. We needed to work together with the owners to create an actual vision, one that the business lives and breathes by. Born from core values and principles, this statement essentially shows what the business values and what they hope to become in the future.
Vision statement and values
We bring Cuban culture to life through vibrant food made with care in the kitchen and warmly served at our patrons’ tables.
We welcome everyone to enjoy a meal with us. As a family owned establishment, we want to continue that tradition, where every person who walks through our doors becomes a part of our family.
We show our love for our food by using high-quality ingredients. We show our love for our customers by providing excellent customer service.
We serve an authentic Cuban experience. Our Cuban born chef creates dishes inspired by his family’s recipes and long-standing traditions to give customers an original, flavorful culinary experience.
With enough references and a solid vision statement ready to go, we began sketching multiple iterations of potential designs. Color palettes and fonts based on previous reference images were chosen. Below are a few sketches we solidified before agreeing on the final font, logo, and color design.
Setting the foundation for the final logo helped pave the way for rest of the designs. Menus, business cards, catering goodies, and other promotional material were the last step in bringing this journey to a close. As reference points for the owners in the future, we also created a brand book for them to utilize in case of future design implementations.
Together we created an atmosphere where visitors can experience Cuba and its culture locally. Working closely with one another throughout the entire process until opening was extremely rewarding and seeing all the positive reviews flow in was a testament to our team success.
